FAQs
Common questions about web design in South Wales and across the UK, and the services that I offer:
Do I actually own my website if you are hosting it?
100%. You own the content, the domain, and the design. My hosting infrastructure is simply the "engine" that runs it. If you ever decide to leave, I provide a full export of your site that can be moved to any WordPress-compatible host.
What happens if my website gets hacked or goes down?
Because I use proactive malware scanning and a server-level firewall, this is extremely rare. However, if anything does go wrong, I have daily off-site backups ready. I can restore your site to perfect working order in minutes—at no extra cost to you.
I’m an existing client from before 2026. Do I have to change my plan?
No. If you are happy with your current legacy setup, nothing changes. Your original pricing and hosting agreement remain in place. We only apply these new managed standards to projects started from January 2026 onwards to ensure we maintain the highest possible performance for our new builds.
Can I still make my own updates to the text and images?
Yes! You will have your own login. You can post blogs whenever you like (text and images). I handle the "scary" technical stuff in the background so you can focus on your business. I build the pages, and you can add to the blog or add articles. Blogs can be things like match reports, new product updates, latest news etc.
Do I have to pay for hosting and my domain name every year?
Yes. Think of a website like a physical shop: the domain is your sign above the door, and hosting is the rent for the building. For all new projects from 2026, I provide a managed hosting service where I handle the "rent," security, and technical updates for a single monthly or annual fee.
Do I need to provide the text and images?
Yes. You are the expert in your business, so I rely on you to provide the wording and any specific photos you’d like to use. If you’re struggling, I can recommend professional copywriters or help you find high-quality stock imagery that fits your brand.
What is an SSL certificate, and do I need one?
An SSL certificate is what gives your site the "padlock" icon in the browser bar. It encrypts the data sent between your visitors and the website.
Will my website work on mobile phones?
Absolutely. I build every site using a "mobile-first" approach. This means your website will automatically adjust to look perfect on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and large desktop screens.
Do you do SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)?
I build every site with "On-Page SEO" best practices—this includes fast loading speeds, mobile optimization, and properly formatted headings. For advanced ranking services (like appearing #1 for highly competitive terms), I can discuss a separate monthly SEO growth plan with you.
Do you offer email accounts with the hosting?
Yes. My managed 2026 plans include professional "@yourdomain.co.uk" email addresses. I will help you get these set up on your phone or computer so you can communicate with your customers professionally. You can choose not to have one, and that will mean a reduction in cost to you.
Can you "take over" a website someone else built?
I specialise in building high-performance sites from scratch using my 2026 Managed Standard. While I don't usually take over existing "messy" sites, I can certainly rebuild your current site on my faster, more secure platform while keeping the look and content you already love.
Do you do "E-commerce" or online shops?
I specialiae in high-quality brochure, professional service, and community archive websites. I do not offer e-commerce or online shop builds. This allows me to focus 100% of my expertise on making informational and service-based sites as fast and effective as possible.
What exactly is a "Monthly Divi Health Check"?
As a professional designer, I use the Divi framework to build your site. Every month, I manually log in to verify that the latest version of Divi is compatible with your active plugins. This prevents the "white screen of death" that often happens when people let their sites auto-update without supervision.
Data Privacy
Your Data Stays in Europe
"I host all new 2026 projects on high-spec, carbon-neutral servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA). For my UK clients, this offers the perfect balance of performance and privacy:
-
GDPR Excellence: Because your data never leaves Europe, it remains protected by some of the strictest data privacy laws in the world (GDPR), ensuring your customers' information is handled with the highest level of care.
-
Ultra-Low Latency: While the servers are in mainland Europe, my infrastructure uses a global Content Delivery Network (CDN). This means your website 'assets' (images and code) are cached in London and other UK hubs, delivering near-instant load times for your local visitors.
-
Legal Compliance: I ensure that every site I build is configured to meet both UK and EU data protection standards as standard."
What happens if I want to move my website away in the future?
While I hope we work together for years, I never "trap" my clients. If you decide to move to another provider, I will provide a full backup of your website files. Please note that a small migration fee applies to cover my time in packaging the site for the move.
Do I have to meet you in person to start a project?
Not at all! Most of my work is done via email, phone, and video calls. This allows me to work efficiently with clients all over the UK while keeping my overheads low and my prices competitive.
