1. Definitions
To keep things clear, here is what we mean when we use these terms:
- The Project: The specific website design, logo work, or services described in your confirmation email.
- The Service: Ongoing work such as SEO, hosting, maintenance, or graphic design.
- We/Us: Major Web Design.
- You/The Client: The person or organization hiring us.
- Live Mode: The date your site goes "live" on your chosen domain.
- CMS: Content Management System (the software, usually WordPress, used to update your site).
- SEO: Search Engine Optimisation (efforts to improve your ranking on Google/Bing).
- Content: The text and images you provide for the site.
2. Working Together
What You Agree To:
- Authority: You have the power to enter this contract.
- Assets: You will provide logos, images, and text in a timely manner and in the requested formats.
- Review: You will provide feedback and approvals promptly so we can stay on schedule.
- Legality: You guarantee that you own (or have permission to use) all content you provide. You are responsible for ensuring your business operates legally.
What We Agree To:
- Professionalism: We will perform all work to a high industry standard and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
- Confidentiality: We will keep all your business information private.
- Support: We test our designs on modern browsers (like Chrome) to ensure a great user experience.
3. Communication & Project Flow
- Email First: Email is our primary record. Please use nick@majorwebdesign.co.uk.
- Stay in Touch: If we donโt hear from you for more than 2 weeks after sending a draft, we will make 5 attempts to contact you. If we still receive no response, the project will be considered complete and the final balance will be due.
- Content Delivery: To keep things organized, please send the content for each webpage in separate emails with the page title as the subject line.
4. Revisions & Changes
We want you to love your site, so we include 3 free rounds of revisions:
- Round 1: After the first draft is delivered.
- Round 2: After the final version is delivered.
- Round 3: A final "safety net" for any last-minute tweaks.
Note: Additional revisions or major changes in direction are charged at ยฃ35 per hour. Once live, you get 3 small updates for free in Year 1. In following years, this update package is ยฃ30/year.
5. Payments & Refunds
- Deposit: A ยฃ50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot and begin work.
- Milestones: * ยฃ100 is due after the first draft is delivered.
- The Remaining Balance is due before the site goes live.
- Late Payments: As a small business, we rely on prompt payments. Site transfers or "Go Live" actions will only happen once the final balance is cleared.
6. Rights & Ownership
- Your Ownership: Once the final invoice is paid, you own the visual elements and the text/data of the website.
- Our Rights: We reserve the right to display the finished project in our portfolio and include a small "Designed by Major Web Design" link in the footer.
- Software: We use Open Source software (GPL). You own the site, but the underlying code (like WordPress) remains subject to its own license.
7. The Legal "Small Print"
- Liability: We do our best, but we cannot guarantee that the site will be 100% error-free. We are not liable for lost profits or business interruptions. Our total liability is limited to the fees paid under this contract.
- SEO: While we build sites to be "search engine friendly," we cannot guarantee specific rankings on Google.
- Jurisdiction: This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
