  • We/Us: Major Web Design.
  • You/The Client: The person or organization hiring us.
  • Live Mode: The date your site goes "live" on your chosen domain.
  • CMS: Content Management System (the software, usually WordPress, used to update your site).
  • SEO: Search Engine Optimisation (efforts to improve your ranking on Google/Bing).
  • Content: The text and images you provide for the site.

2. Working Together

What You Agree To:

  • Authority: You have the power to enter this contract.
  • Assets: You will provide logos, images, and text in a timely manner and in the requested formats.
  • Review: You will provide feedback and approvals promptly so we can stay on schedule.
  • Legality: You guarantee that you own (or have permission to use) all content you provide. You are responsible for ensuring your business operates legally.

What We Agree To:

  • Professionalism: We will perform all work to a high industry standard and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Confidentiality: We will keep all your business information private.
  • Support: We test our designs on modern browsers (like Chrome) to ensure a great user experience.

3. Communication & Project Flow

  • Email First: Email is our primary record. Please use nick@majorwebdesign.co.uk.
  • Stay in Touch: If we donโ€™t hear from you for more than 2 weeks after sending a draft, we will make 5 attempts to contact you. If we still receive no response, the project will be considered complete and the final balance will be due.
  • Content Delivery: To keep things organized, please send the content for each webpage in separate emails with the page title as the subject line.

4. Revisions & Changes

We want you to love your site, so we include 3 free rounds of revisions:

  1. Round 1: After the first draft is delivered.
  2. Round 2: After the final version is delivered.
  3. Round 3: A final "safety net" for any last-minute tweaks.

Note: Additional revisions or major changes in direction are charged at ยฃ35 per hour. Once live, you get 3 small updates for free in Year 1. In following years, this update package is ยฃ30/year.

5. Payments & Refunds

  • Deposit: A ยฃ50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot and begin work.
  • Milestones: * ยฃ100 is due after the first draft is delivered.
    • The Remaining Balance is due before the site goes live.
  • Late Payments: As a small business, we rely on prompt payments. Site transfers or "Go Live" actions will only happen once the final balance is cleared.

6. Rights & Ownership

  • Your Ownership: Once the final invoice is paid, you own the visual elements and the text/data of the website.
  • Our Rights: We reserve the right to display the finished project in our portfolio and include a small "Designed by Major Web Design" link in the footer.
  • Software: We use Open Source software (GPL). You own the site, but the underlying code (like WordPress) remains subject to its own license.

7. The Legal "Small Print"

  • Liability: We do our best, but we cannot guarantee that the site will be 100% error-free. We are not liable for lost profits or business interruptions. Our total liability is limited to the fees paid under this contract.
  • SEO: While we build sites to be "search engine friendly," we cannot guarantee specific rankings on Google.
  • Jurisdiction: This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
